1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

"Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift."

The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program began here at Thorntown Public Library in 2012. Since then 120 pre-K children have signed up. The goal of the program is to provide a simple, yet fun, approach to establishing strong early literacy skills. We want to help young children gain the confidence necessary to become strong readers. And along the way, children earn FREE books!

Stop by the library to pick up a binder and your first set of pages! You may also choose to keep track of your books via the 1,000 Books app, available on iOS and Android devices.
