How to get a library card at Thorntown Public Library

The Thorntown Public Library is a proud member of the Evergreen Indiana Consortium. Learn more by visiting the State Library’s website.

To sign up for a library card, you must be 18 years or older (minors must have parent or guardian present), and have a valid driver’s license or Indiana State ID with your current address. If your ID address is no longer current, you must also present:

  • valid military ID or passport, OR
  • recent bank statement from the last 30 days, OR
  • recent utility bill from the last 30 days, OR
  • property tax receipt.

Residents who live in or own property in Washington, Jefferson, or Sugar Creek townships qualify for a free Thorntown Public Library card. Resident cardholders will have full access to Evergreen Indiana, the Indiana Digital Library (Overdrive), and Hoopla (downloadable ebooks, audiobooks, movies, TV shows, and music).

Nonresident Thorntown Public Library cards are available for $127.29 per person per year. Nonresident cardholders will have full access to Evergreen Indiana, the Indiana Digital Library (Overdrive), and Hoopla for one year. Please call the library for other options.

Students of the Western Boone CSC are eligible for a free Student card. Student cardholders will have access to Thorntown Public library materials, the Indiana Digital Library (Overdrive), and Hoopla. Teachers at any Western Boone school are eligible for a free OutReach card for their classroom.

Any nonresident who has a valid public library card in Indiana and also has a valid PLAC (Public Library Access Card) is entitled to a Nonresident Thorntown Public Library card.
